By completing the Family Crest quest, players can unlock Chaos gauntlets, an item which increases the max hit of Fire Bolt and all other bolt spells by 3. As a fire spell, the max hit of Fire Bolt can be increased by 50% when using the Tome of fire. When compounded with other damage-boosting items, it's possible to make that max hit of Fire Bolt rival that of various wave spells.
