High Level Alchemy (also know as high alch, hi alch, and alching) is a non-combat spell that converts items into coins. The number of coins received is the best price available if the player were to sell that item to a specialty NPC store. This amount normally equals out to 60% of the specialty shop price, and 150% of the coins gained from Low Level Alchemy.

High Level Alchemy is a very popular method of training Magic. Players will buy large quantities of items, such as Yew longbows, and then cast this spell on the noted item. This method allows them to recover most of the coins spent while gaining magic experience. This method allows you to alch roughly 1,200 items per hour - yielding about 78,000 magic experience.

Casting this spell on a valuable item typically results in a warning message asking for confirmation that the item should be alched. By default, the threshold for this warning is 30,000 coins, but that can be changed by right-clicking the High Level Alchemy icon in your spellbook.

A Magic level of 55 is required to cast this spell, giving 65 experience. It requires 1 Nature rune and 5 Fire runes to cast.
